Kids can see and hear birds everywhere in Hawai‘i—at beaches, on playgrounds, in backyards, in rainforests, on lava fields, and above pali (cliffs). Here is just a tiny sampling of the many beautiful birds (both native and introduced) that make the Islands a more colorful and joyful place.
Included is the state bird—the nene—the Pueo, Laysan Albatross, Hawaiian Stilt, ‘Apapane, and more along with a bit of information on each.
This simple introduction to the wide variety of birds found in Hawai‘i skies will give kids an early appreciation of Hawai‘i’s natural world which will hopefully grow as their curiosity grows.
