Ikau’s quest continues. He is still living in the park, watching the prowlings of a magy cat, getting caught up in a swarm of golden butterflies, sleeping under a bridge, having flying dreams. His wanderings take him downtown, to the scuzziness around Aala Park, to the planetarium at Bishop Museum, to a graveyard where he time-travels back to an earlier Honolulu, to a rehabilitation hospital, and to a rally at Iolani Palace. And at last, among the Hawaiians there, he finds-blessedly-what he has always wanted and needed: the embrace of family. He belongs, and life is good.
